This is a photo I took at the Houston Zoo with my new, refurbished Nikon D70s. I had it blown up to 16 x 20 inches at Shutterfly which only costs about $18.00.
Shutterfly will crop your photo to fit the size print that you order. Since I didn't want my photo cropped, I made a background for it in Photoshop. I made a new image 16 x 20" at 300 dpi and filled the background with black. I then pasted my photo in and added the birds name. You may want to find a signature font and use it to sign your name on your print.
Shutterfly offers lots of options for your photos. You can have books, cards, calendars, coffee mugs or more made. They also offer frames and custom framing.
Since I take a lot of pictures I looked around for some very inexpensive frames. I decided to use glass clip frames . This means I can mount all the photos I want and not have to worry about matching frames. The photo is sandwiched between the glass and a piece of hardboard. The provided clips hold the hardboard backing to the glass. The hardboard also has two hangers on the back so that the frame can be hung horizontally or vertically.
Technically photos should not be mounted so they touch the glass, as this can cause mildew. Mat boards are often used when mounting photos, the mat board leaves a bit of space between the photo and the glass. These are digital photos, they can be reprinted if damage occurs, I am not going to worry about the glass. I just want an inexpensive way to display my photos.
If you plan to use a frame with a mat you should consider how much of your photo the mat will cover. You may want to make adjustments for this in Photoshop before you send the photo off to be enlarged. Remember that if they need to, they will crop your photo to fit the requested size.
Decoupage your smaller photos to make unique artwork and gifts. Modge Podge can be used to apply photos to wood blocks, furniture, old suitcases and trunks, etc.
