Finally I got the call that Munchie was ready to come home! She had her final heartworm shot to kill the baby heartworms and will have another blood test in 2 weeks. They want her to stay on crate rest until after the blood test.

Munchie at park9 weeks total poor Munch had to spend in a crate. I took her to work with me every day for the last 2 weeks. At home she was free to roam the house. At night she would go and sleep in her bedroom crate with the door open. That is until the day of her blood test. She passed her blood test and the vet officially released her from crate rest. Seems like she knew, she never went back in the crate. She started sleeping on the bedroom floor.

On one of her visits I thought I would try to teach her to sit. I told her to sit and pushed on her butt, she just crumbled and fell on the floor. You could tell she had been abused before. I tried it again and the same thing happened, so I said forget that for now. The next time she came I told her to sit and she did, she even laid down when I told her. The rescue people told me how hard it was to put a leash on her when they took her out of the crate. She was just wild, they didn't teach her this. How did she learn so fast? Who is the stupid person who threw this dog away?

She stays in the yard by herself when I am at work. She has not tried to dig out or go over the fence. When I get home she acts like I have been gone a week. I think she is just so excited that I actually came back. Hopefully she will calm down when she gets used to the routine and realizes she is not going to be abandoned again.

Sorry but the tag must be removed!

I bought her a dog backpack and tried to just set it on her, she wanted nothing to do with it! I let her sniff it and stick her nose in the pouches and Mr. Moose modeled it for her. The next morning before our walk I put it on her. She didn't like the idea, but going outside was the most important thing on her mind so she said ok. Once she was out the door she forgot all about it. I will make her wear it everyday on our morning walk until she gets used to it. Then she can wear it to the park and begin to carry her own water.

Munchie is only 52 lbs, a bit of a munchkin for a malamute. The pack sizes go from small to medium at 50 lbs so I wasn't sure which size to order. The medium seems like it will be just fine.

It smells funny.

Are there treats inside?

Mr. Moose models the pack.

Ok, give it back Mr. Moose, it's mine!

Malamutes are working dogs and Munchie likes to work in the garden. She open and spread 6 bags of mulch for me.
