Munch was found at a shelter on death row by a local Malamute rescue group. Scrawny and scared from previous abuse, she would shy away whenever someone raised a hand. So afraid she was going to be hit again. I am in the process of adopting her. She has been spayed and started her heartworm treatment Nov. 17th, 2002. Dogs are injected with poison to kill the worms and must be kept very quiet for 6 weeks afterwards. Too much activity can cause death. The dead worms travel to the lungs and can cause a clot. Munch has been with the rescue group since May and is no longer afraid of anyone, she is a very active dog. She is staying with me over the long Thanksgiving weekend and as you can see by the picture on the right, she just wants to go out and play. She feels fine, she doesn't know she is sick. She doesn't understand. |

Munch has to spend most of her time in a small crate so she will not get too much exercise. She has never lived in a house before and trots all over to check everything out. She NEVER stops! It is amazing but Munch gets in her crate, lays down and is very quiet. You would not expect such a hyper dog to be so calm in a crate, but she is. Well she did raise a little fuss the first time. Every 3 or 4 hours I take her out in the yard on a leash. This is how it will be for at least 3 more weeks. When the most dangerous part of the treatment is over, she can have a little more freedom. |

It's much safer, easier
and cheaper to keep your dogs on heartworm preventative. Heartworm treatment is
expensive and can cause death.
Prescription
Heartworm medication for Dogs & Cats is available online. This may be
cheaper than buying it from your vet. You will still need a heartworm bloodtest
and prescription before you can purchase heartworm medicine online. Giving
heartworm preventative to a heartworm infected dog can be deadly! Munch is back at the Malamute Rescue to finish her treatment and will be coming back to my house the end of December. I can hardly stand all this waiting, but it gives me time to get ready Next.... Time to buy Munch supplies |
