Forbidden Gardens Katy Texas

Forbidden Gardens is located at 23500 Franz Rd in Katy Tx, about 30 miles west from downtown Houston. Forbidden Gardens is the creation of a wealthy Chinese businessman (Ira Poon) who wanted to share his country's history. He spent 40 million dollars to develop 40 of the 80 acres the museum sits on. Under a shaded pavilion is a 1:20 scale replica of the Forbidden City. They are open for tours which last about 1 hour. Construction on the Forbidden City in Beijing, China was started in 1406 and completed in 1420. The Forbidden City is the worlds largest palace complex with 800 buildings and about 9,000 rooms. The Forbidden City served the Ming dynasty until 1644 when it was invaded by peasants.
